The French will spend $3.1 billion on games in 2018
France is the seventh largest gaming market in the world. By the end of the year, spending by French players will reach $3.1 billion, Newzoo predicts.
The population of the country is 66.9 million people. The Newzoo players include half of them – 32.8 million.
Games on mobile devices are launched at least once a month by 45% of the female audience and 44% of the male audience. Desktops and consoles are less popular, and there is a noticeable gender gap in favor of men in this segment.
61% of paying players have spent on in-game purchases in the last six months. Interestingly, significantly more men (31%) than women (18%) buy add-ons and DLC for games.
Gaming video content is not very popular in France, it is watched by less than a third of Internet users.
The popularity of esports among French gamers is low: only 6% regularly watch esports content, most often it is League of Legends.
