Cookie Crush game has been launched on Facebook Instant Games more than a billion times

Cookie Crush, a three-in-a-row game from German Softgames, has crossed the threshold of one billion downloads on Facebook Instant Games in seven months.

The game was released in December 2017. The main audience of the game is expected to be female. But, as noted in Softgames, it is “much younger” than the 35+ segment traditional for casual games.

According to the company’s executive director Alexander Krug, this indicates an age shift among casual gamers.

“Gamers in general are getting older, we have started paying a lot of attention to the elderly audience (in the original silver gamers, “gray-haired gamers”, 50+ players – approx.), but on Facebook Instant Games our titles mainly attract players aged 18-34. For Cookie Crush, it’s mostly women, although there are men of the same age category who are very passionate about the game.”

As noted in the press release, this shows that it is easier to achieve long-term engagement from a young audience of casual titles if the game does not require downloading. Cookie Crush also has downloadable analogues, and they do not have such engagement indicators.

Softgames did not provide specific statistics on player categories.
