How much did mobile gamers spend in the first half of 2018?

The revenue of mobile games in the App Store and Google Play for the first six months of 2018 amounted to $26.6 billion. This is 19.1% more than in the same period of 2017 last year, analysts at Sensor Tower calculated.

Player spending on Google Play is growing faster than in the App Store: 26% vs. 15.1%.

According to Sensor Tower, the largest revenue in the last six months was received by:

  • Honor of Kings – MOBA of the Chinese giant Tencent;battler Monster Strike from the Japanese social network Mixi;
  • Fate Grand Order role-playing game from Aniplex, a subsidiary of Sony.
  • In total, games currently account for 78% of mobile app revenue, analysts say.

As for game downloads, Google Play bypasses the App Store three times in terms of their number: 15 billion versus 4.5 billion . At the same time, the growth rate of the number of downloads is higher at the Apple store: 14.1% versus 10.3%.

Tops of this half-year by downloads:

  • The Battle Royale of PUBG Mobile, published by Tencent; casual Helix Jump by the French studio Voodoo;
  • Subway Surfers runner from Kiloo.
