Media: Snapchat will open a gaming platform for third-party developers
Snapchat messenger will allow third-party developers to create and release games in their application. This is reported by the publication The Information, citing a source close to the Snapchat-owning company Snap Inc. The company itself has not commented on these rumors yet.
According To The Information, Snap Inc. I have already agreed with one publisher to release games on the Snapchat platform. The name of this publisher is also not disclosed.
In April 2018, Snapchat launched its own Snappables game format — small augmented reality games using the camera of a mobile device. Snappables are based on Snapchat’s proprietary feature — the so-called “lenses” that add interactive virtual objects to the video. All Snappables were developed inside Snap Inc.
According to the analytical company Omnicore, 187 million people use Snapchat every day around the world, and the monthly audience of the messenger exceeds 300 million users.
