J. J. Abrams' company has opened a gaming division
Bad Robot Productions Film Studio directed by J. J. Abrams together with the Chinese giant Tencent has formed a gaming division Bad Robot Games. The minority investor of the project was Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
Bad Robot Games will attract leading game development companies. It is planned to create both large-scale and indie projects for mobile devices, PCs and consoles. Artists, designers and screenwriters from Bad Robot Productions will be involved in the work on the games.
The gaming division was headed by Dave Baronoff, who was responsible for interactive and game content at the studio for 12 years. In particular, under his leadership, an AR-game was launched to promote the movie “Monstro”, and now he is working on a role-playing action Spyjinx, which Bad Robot Productions is developing together with Epic Games, ChAIR and Tencent.
The creative director of Bad Robot Games was Tim Keenan, the author of the indie game Duskers, which received good press (rating on Metacritic 83%).
As for the partnership with Tencent, it has received exclusive rights to publish future Bad Robot Games in the Asian market.
