Square Enix Montreal refused to make new Go series games
No new puzzle games of the Go series will be released. They don’t sell well because of an unsuccessful distribution model, the developers admitted.
Square Enix Montreal studio managed to release three games in the series: Hitman Go, Lara Croft Go and Deus Ex Go. Despite popular franchises and high critical acclaim, titles were not a success with players.
The head of the studio, Patrick Naud, believes that this is due to the premium release model — each game cost $ 5. For the modern market, this is very expensive: consumers of mobile content have a lot to choose from, and they do not want to throw money on an unfamiliar product.
