38 million users have registered in the MMO action Warframe for 5 years
The free-play MMO action game Warframe by the Canadian studio Digital Extreme turns 5 years old in a week. During the existence of the game, more than 38 million players have registered in it, the developers said.
The last 7 million joined the Warframe community over the past year.
Since the launch of the open beta in March 2013 , gamers have managed to:
- spend 1.2 billion hours in the game;
- create 52.9 million warframes (player-controlled suits displaying game classes);
- create 234.7 million units of game weapons.
In 5 years, Digital Extreme has been able to develop Warframe from a small project to a large-scale game franchise with the annual TennoCon conference. Comics are also published based on the title.
The creators of the game emphasize the free-play nature of the game. Almost all the content in Warframe can be earned without investment. However, the player will most likely have to spend real money to buy space for a growing collection of warframes and weapons.
