Game service GameSparks has officially become part of Amazon

The GameSparks gaming platform has officially confirmed its transition to Amazon ownership, writing about it in its blog. Rumors about the purchase of GameSparks by the American Internet corporation have been going around since July last year.

“As part of Amazon, we will continue to develop the service and use Amazon’s great capabilities to help developers create and monetize games,” the GameSparks blog says.

The amount of the transaction was not disclosed. TechCrunch last year estimated the purchase at $10 million, citing internal sources.

GameSparks provides developers with access to analytical and marketing tools for their games, and also allows them to implement multiplayer, leaderboards, social services, in-game purchases and other features into game projects.

GameSparks has entered the Amazon Web Services cloud web services infrastructure, which also offers opportunities for video game developers. It also includes the free Lumberyard game engine, Amazon Sumerian VR/AR application creation platform, and other resources.
