Developer Forza Horizon hired the creators of GTA and MGS for a role-playing project
Known for the Forza racing series, Playground Games has hired game designers who worked on GTA V, Metal Gear Solid and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
They were tasked with creating an “open-world role-playing action.”
The development team included Sean Eyestone, who had previously worked with Hideo Kozima for 10 years on the Metal Gear Solid series of games, including the last part of Phantom Pain. Aystone will take the position of director of production.
His colleagues on the project were Will Kennedy and Juan Fernandez di Simon.
Kennedy spent 8 years with Rockstar North. He designed levels and game design for GTA V. Di Simon participated in the creation of the latest Ninja Theory action game Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice as a senior designer.
In the new Playground Games project, Kennedy will serve as chief designer, and Di Simon will design the combat system.
The new project will be the first game of the company not dedicated to car racing.
The new Playground division with a staff of 200 people will be engaged in the development of the title. This will double the studio staff.
