Microsoft gaming platforms are used by 53 million people every month
53 million people play video games on Xbox One, Windows 10 and mobile apps every month, the company said in a report on the results of the 1st quarter of the current fiscal year.
Microsoft has reported a growing interest in the gaming direction. At the same time, the company’s video game revenues in the 1st quarter increased by only 1% compared to the same period last year.
In the 1st quarter of this year, demand for gaming devices fell, but this was offset by an increase in sales of titles.
According to the company’s representatives, the company’s new gaming initiatives (such as the Mixer streaming service and the Xbox Game Pass season pass) demonstrate encouraging early results.
“We really hope to attract talented people to Microsoft’s gaming business. We also want to empower game developers for Microsoft platforms with our cloud infrastructure and services to increase community gaming activity,” said Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.
As an example, Nadella spoke about the release of the most popular network shooter Playersunknown’s Battlegrounds on the servers of the Azure cloud platform owned by Microsoft. The game will also be released on Xbox One.
