The developer linked the problems of Mass Effect: Andromeda with a “lack of diversity”

Ex-BioWare employee Manveer Heir (Manveer Heir) in the Waypoint Radio podcast spoke about a misunderstanding between ordinary employees and the leaders of the Mass Effect: Andromeda role-playing game development team. Heir attributed this to “a lack of racial diversity in the project management.”

According to the developer, the people who led the work on the last part of Mass Effect did not listen to the opinions of their subordinates on various aspects for which the game was criticized after the release.

Manvir connected such a state of affairs that the team was led only by “white managers”, who, due to their traditions and outlook, found it difficult to look at the game through the eyes of representatives of a different culture and historical past.

Heir cited as an example the accusation of the plot of Mass Effect: Andromeda in “glorifying the traditions of colonialism.” According to him, BioWare employees warned bosses about the ambiguity of such moments years before the release. As it turned out, in vain.

According to Manvir Kheir, BioWare management generally did not encourage employees to say out loud what was bothering them. Therefore, he refused to tolerate the pressure of the environment and left the studio

Heir participated in the development of Mass Effect 3 and Mass Effect: Andromeda. In addition to his career in game development, the developer managed to become famous for scandalous statements on Twitter, for which he himself was accused of racism.
