Microsoft and Sony compete for PUBG
Microsoft is negotiating with Bluehole Studio to extend the exclusive period of the PvP shooter version of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds for the Xbox One platform amid negotiations on the release of the game on PS4.
This is reported by Bloomberg with reference to internal sources in Bluehole.
The Chinese corporation Tencent also shows interest in the successful project and its creators. As confirmed in Bluehole, Tencent is negotiating with them to purchase a share of the company’s shares.
In addition, in April, Tencent launched the WePlay gaming service, which has already been called a Chinese competitor to Steam. On October 2, the official Twitter account of WePlay announced the imminent release of PUBG on the Tencent platform, but it was deleted after a few minutes.
The release of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds on the Microsoft platform at the end of this year was announced at the last E3 exhibition. Microsoft declined to comment on the issue of negotiations between the company and Bluehole on the extension of the exclusive period.
Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds has already sold over 13 million copies on Steam.
