Sold 10 million copies of PUBG in six months
Sales of the MMO shooter Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds on Steam in less than 6 months exceeded 10 million copies.
The game appeared in early access on March 23. PUBG’s success has been called phenomenal more than once.
In six months, the project managed to overtake titles that had been at the top of the Steam popularity rating for years: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2.
According to the developers, the peak of the online Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds simultaneously gathered 970 thousand people in the game.
In addition, the Bluhole studio game became the most popular spectacle on the Twitch streaming service, in August beating League of Legends, which held the top game broadcasts for 4 years in a row.
The first big PUBG Invitational tournament contributed to record views on Twitch.
Numerous achievements of the game have led to the fact that other multiplayer projects have begun to introduce the “battle royale” mode. For example, a similar mode appeared in GTA Online.
Bluehole intends to release a version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds for Xbox One by the end of this year.
