Game currency in League of Legends will rise in price by 20% due to Brexit

Riot Games studio has announced an increase in prices in the UK for game currency in the popular MOBA League of Legends. The company explained the increase in value by the UK’s exit from the EU.

The game currency Riot Points for League of Legends will rise in price by 20% from July 25. For Riot Points (RP), characters, skins and other virtual items are purchased in the game.

Change in the value of RP in the UK

British players in League of Legends noticed that the prices for hero skins start at 975 RP, and after the rise in price, gamers will no longer be able to purchase a skin for a minimum RP package, which costs 5 pounds (386 rubles at the current exchange rate).

To buy at least something, they will have to overpay twice.

The developer explained the change in the exchange rate of the pound sterling to Riot Points by the fall of the pound against other world currencies, including the US dollar, which began after Brexit.

Riot Games will raise the price of RP to balance the value of the game currency in the UK relative to other countries.

The studio also promised that the prices for champions and other game content will not change in a big way.
