Google Play is testing a subscription service

Google is preparing to release a mobile service that will allow you to play premium games by subscription. It will be called Google Play Pass and will cost $4.99 per month.

Screenshots of the new service have been placed at the disposal of our colleagues from Android Police.

They say that a subscription will give access to a curated catalog of applications. They promise hundreds of premium programs without ads and IAP.

Among the games there will be titles such as Stardew Valley, Limbo, Monument Valley, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, Terraria and many others. However, the catalog will not be limited to games alone. It is reported that there will be a place for music applications in it.

A Google representative officially confirmed to Android Police the reality of the screenshots and the fact of testing the service.

Most likely, Google Play Pass is Android’s response to the announcement of Apple Arcade. Recall that in March, Apple introduced a subscription mobile service for premium games. It is unknown how much it will cost users. However, so far it looks more interesting: Apple promises exclusives for its platform.
