Alto's Adventure Frituplay for Android was explained by the availability of the platform
The creators of the mobile indie platformer Alto’s Adventure named the reason why the game was released on Android using the frituplay model, and the iOS version is sold for $ 5. According to creative director Ryan Cash, Android smartphones are much more affordable than Apple devices, and their users often do not have money for games.
When deciding to launch the free-play version of Alto’s Adventure on Android, the authors of the game in the Team Alto studio studied the statistics of purchases of games by other developers on the Google platform.
The study showed that the Android version accounts for no more than 30% of sales of premium titles, and the average revenue from the platform ranges from 5% to 15% of the total revenue of the game.
“People use Android smartphones in different countries of the world, some of them earn little and cannot afford to spend $ 5 on a mobile game,” said Ryan Cash.
He added that in this case it is not necessary to deprive people of the pleasure of playing games, it is better to find a way to adapt to this market.
In the case of the Android version of Alto’s Adventure, the game is monetized through rewarded advertising. It also has in-game purchases.
The interview with the creators of Alto’s Adventure is timed to coincide with the release of the sequel title — Alto’s Odyssey. The game was released on iOS on February 21, and the Android version will appear in the foreseeable future.
