Putin instructed to check the content in video games for compliance with the laws and keep records of their finances
On December 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved a number of instructions to the government related to video games. They are tightening regulation in the Russian gaming market.
Putin instructed:
- to develop and implement measures to support Russian gaming services and the Russian gaming market as a whole;
- Classify video games based on their distribution method, format, and content;
- to organize the monitoring and control of content in video games for compliance with the laws on information, information technology and information protection;
- to organize monitoring and accounting of financial transactions in video games developed by foreign companies (unless the rights to the games are transferred to Russian legal entities). This should be done through a Single Gambling Regulator.
The government will carry out the instructions together with the A PRIORI gaming Association and "other interested organizations". Mikhail Mishustin, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, has been appointed responsible.
