Makarov’s organization will be called the “Party of Direct Democracy”.
He will invite Russian developers from leading IT companies to join it. The latter, according to him, are large taxpayers and are aware of the problems on the ground.
The organizing committee of the party, in addition to Makarov, will include Director of the Eurasian Communication Center Alexey Pilko, CEO of Unwired Devices Oleg Artamonov, ex-producer of LiveJournal Timofey Shevyakov and deputy head of the legal department of Yandex.Money” Boris Chigidin.
In addition, Makarov intends to create a blockchain application for the needs of the party. This project will cost him $ 1 million, writes Kommersant.
The founding congress of the new organization will be held on March 5. It is expected that this year the “Party of Direct Democracy” will nominate its candidates in regional elections. Although she has critically little time to prepare for them. In three months, it must obtain federal registration and establish branches in at least 43 regions of the country.
We should add that in case of success with the regional elections, Makarov will aim at the parliamentary ones. There may be a number of reasons for a large-scale plan:
- one of the interlocutors of Kommersant believes that the future politician is trying to invest the resources of Wargaming in “something more” than IT and game dev;
- The task of the “Party of Direct Democracy”, according to a source from the ISEPI Foundation, is to create a positive image of electronic voting in elections. Then the companies associated with it will be able to count on the support of the authorities for IT projects;
- if the reason is purely political — for example, the party wants to convey to the authorities the protest of educated youth from large cities — then the project is doomed to fail, the “Political Expert Group” is sure.
Makarov has been working in the Belarusian Wargaming for more than 10 years. This company, as stated by the source of the publication, sponsors patriotic projects in Russia and Belarus, and also has influence in areas far removed from IT. But nothing is known about the support of Makarov’s party from Wargaming.
