Take-Two earned an "insignificant amount" on loot boxes during the financial year

As it turned out, not all publishers place a big bet on loot boxes. Take-Two, for example, earned less than $87 million on boxes with random rewards last fiscal year.

This is only 3% of net receipts (net bookings) for the specified period.

Recall that net receipts mean the amount of sales of products and services sold during the reporting period in retail and digitally.

According to Take-Two’s statements, for the fiscal year ended March 31, the publisher’s net receipts amounted to $2.9 billion. This is 47% more than last year’s figure, according to PC Games Insider.

Mechanics (loot boxes) are responsible for less than 3% of our net receipts in the last fiscal year. An insignificant amount for us. We have implemented this mechanics in the past. There was a lot of hype around it, especially in the global market. It seems to us that this mechanics is completely acceptable. And yet she is responsible for a very small part of our business.

It’s worth adding here: a bill is being prepared in the United States prohibiting loot boxes and pay-to-win monetization. Its authors want to protect minors from intrusive micropayments. Nevertheless, in many other countries, the mechanics of loot boxes are not considered gambling and harmful.
