January 21, 2025 Update: The developer of Marvel Snap, Second Dinner, declared that their game is once more accessible in the United States following complications resulting from the TikTok prohibition.
The company announced on social media that it intends to "internalize more services and collaborate with a new publisher" to prevent a recurrence of such issues.
They informed players that in-app purchases remain halted in the US and are focused on reinstating the game in app stores.
Original Report, January 20, 2025: Due to the recent TikTok ban, Marvel Snap and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang were temporarily unavailable in the United States.
Second Dinner, the team behind Marvel Snap, posted on social media expressing their "surprise" at the game's inclusion in the ban due to its association with Nuverse, a ByteDance subsidiary.
The developers assured, "Marvel Snap is temporarily off US app stores and unplayable locally, but our efforts to restore it are ongoing."
Second Dinner further updated users with hopes to "reactivate Marvel Snap within 24 hours" and confirmed that global players should encounter no disruption.
The studio, based in California, promised players compensation for losing access to "time-dependent content, rewards, and missions."
Meanwhile, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, developed by ByteDance's Moonton, was also reported to be "currently unavailable" in the US, as noted by Pocket Gamer.
TikTok was banned in the US on January 18, according to the US Supreme Court's ruling based on security issues.
Services resumed after TikTok received "clarification and assurance" from president-elect Donald Trump that their service providers would not face punitive measures for bringing the app back online.
