Epic Games bought the Harmonix studio. She will create music content for Fortnite

Epic Games continues to move towards creating its own metaverse. To do this, the company acquired the Harmonix studio, known for the Rock Band series. The team will create music content for Fortnite. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.FUSER

According to Epic Games, Harmonix’s expertise will help the company rethink the ways it perceives, creates and distributes music.

“Music already unites millions of people in Fortnite — starting with our emojis and ending with global concerts and events. Together with Harmonix, we will make players not passive listeners, but active participants in musical events,” said Alain Tascan, Vice President of game development at Epic Games.

What kind of content Harmonix will create is not specified yet. Perhaps musical instruments and related gameplay mechanics will appear in Fortnite.

Despite the deal with Epic Games, Harmonix will continue to support and develop its old projects. FUSER and other studio games will continue to be available on Steam, and the 25th season will soon be released for Rock Band 4.

Harmonix is an American studio founded in 1995. She became famous for creating rhythm games for consoles, PC and VR. The company’s portfolio includes such franchises as Guitar Hero, Rock Band and Dance Central.
