Krafton's quarterly revenue reached $442 million. 94% of the amount the company received outside Korea
The PUBG developer reported the results of the quarter for the first time since going public. In July-September 2021, South Korean Krafton earned a record 521.9 billion rubles ($442 million). At the same time, almost the entire amount fell on the foreign market.
The main thing from the report:
- In total, Krafton’s quarterly revenue increased by 42.3% year-on-year. This was achieved, among other things, thanks to the release of the Indian version of PUBG Mobile — Battlegrounds Mobile India. Recall that the game was blocked in India for nine months. To bring her back to the country, Krafton was forced to rename the title and make a number of changes;
- Battlegrounds Mobile India has performed well. By mid-August, the game’s audience was 50 million people. Its average MAU in the third quarter was 42 million people.
- 94% of the company’s quarterly revenue came from abroad;
- The company’s operating profit amounted to ₩178.3 billion ($151.2 million). An increase of 62.1% compared to the third quarter of 2020;
- the most profitable segment of Krafton was mobile. It accounted for 73% of the company’s total revenue — ₩380.5 billion ($322.7 million), which is 31.1% more in annual terms. The main drivers of growth were PUBG Mobile and Battlegrounds Mobile India;
- The PC segment immediately jumped by 111.7% to ₩129.5 billion ($109.837 million). As for the console segment, its revenues fell by 28.3% and amounted to ₩11.9 billion ($10.1 million);
- Krafton also mentioned PUBG: New State in the report. The new battle royale was released yesterday, and by the time of release it had collected 55 million pre-registrations. In the next quarter, the company is going to actively develop the game. You can read more about how the title was launched here.
Recall that Krafton became a public company in early August. Entering the stock exchange was not very successful — after the IPO, Krafton shares fell by 20%. As a result, the developer’s capitalization was ₩21.1 trillion ($18.4 billion) instead of the expected ₩28 trillion ($25 billion). However, now the company’s valuation has risen to ₩26.78 trillion ($22.7 billion).
