CD Projekt bought Digital Scapes studio, which helped with the development of Cyberpunk 2077
CD Projekt is expanding. The company announced the acquisition of the Canadian studio Digital Scapes, which it calls one of its key partners. In particular, she participated in the development of Cyberpunk 2077.
CD Projekt announced the deal on its website. The amount of the transaction is not called. After the takeover, the studio will be renamed CD Projekt RED Vancouver.
“Digital Scapes has done a lot of work on Cyberpunk 2077, helping with the development and optimization of the game. In the future, in addition to working on new projects, this team will help us improve the technological base of the entire company,” said Pavel Zavodny, technical director of CD Projekt RED.
After the merger, the Canadian division will join teams in Warsaw, Krakow and Wroclaw in working on future CD Projekt games.
The takeover is taking place within the framework of the new CD Projekt strategy. The company presented it yesterday. Now she is going to develop several AAA titles at once in parallel.
Digital Scapes was founded in 2012 by veterans of BioWare, Relic and Radical Entertainment. Now it employs several dozen people, among whom there are specialists in animation, multiplayer and programming. Since March 2018, the company has started working closely with the developers of Cyberpunk 2077.
