Epic Games acquired a minority stake in SideFX
Epic Games does not stop supporting the authors of 3D packages. The company became a minority owner of SideFX developer Houdini.
The details of the transaction are almost unknown. It is only reported that the main owner of SideFX remains Kim Davidson (Kim Davidson). He will also retain the post of president and CEO.
SideFX’s partnerships with other companies will not change either — even with developers of game engines and content creation programs. This is despite the fact that Epic Games has its own engine, which is called Unreal Engine.
SideFX is a Canadian developer of software for creating three—dimensional graphics. The company released the first version of the Houdini package back in 1996. Since then, the tool has been widely used among digital artists. For example, Houdini made special effects for the cartoons “Cold Heart” and “Zveropolis”.
