The Angry Birds developer has taken up M&A again. The company acquired a mobile developer from Denmark — Darkfire Games, formerly known as Wargaming Denmark.

The purchase will be renamed Rovio Copenhagen.
Other details of the transaction were not disclosed. It is also unknown how much the acquisition cost the Finnish studio.
The new Rovio division will operate independently. It will continue the development of Darkfire Heroes, which recently hosted a softlonch. The Rovio head office will help the studio with operations, analytics and UA.
According to Rovio CEO Kati Levoranta, the deal gives the buyer access to the midcore niche. “We are attracted by the opportunities to create role—playing games (in this niche),” Levoranta said.
The former Darkfire Games noted that Rovio “shares our ambitions in terms of high-quality and innovative titles.”
Rovio has replenished its portfolio of assets before. For example, in 2018 she bought the Finnish PlayRaven. Angry Birds developers also have a controlling stake in the Hatch streaming service.
It should be noted that recently Rovio has seriously increased its quarterly profit by halving UA costs.
