Half a million dollars have been invested in the publisher of Asian mobile games Potato Play

The mobile publisher Potato Play has raised $500 thousand at the stage of pre-seed financing. The company is engaged in bringing the Asian Games to the global market.

Merge Quest
Potato Play is headquartered in Singapore.

In less than a year, the publisher has released 20 games, including Merge Quest, Crossing Gaps and Pocket Racing. Their total installations exceeded 10 million.

The Potato Play team consists of people from top gaming companies, including:

  • CEO Vincent Low from the British branch of Microsoft Game Studios. An industry veteran with 17 years of experience. In China, he was engaged in launching the first games on the WeChat platform;
  • Vice President of Marketing Carol Le Van. She was engaged in UA for GameLoft, Ubisoft and Wargaming, including on the Asphalt 9 and World of Warships projects.
  • Product Director Henji Tan, an expert on the freeplay and monetization model in Asia. Worked at Ubisoft and King.

The $150,000 invested in the publisher will expand the marketing and product management teams. Part of the funds will be used to develop partnerships with Chinese studios and search for titles in other Asian markets.

“We are focused on cooperation with mobile developers across Asia, especially in China, South Korea and Vietnam,” the company’s management noted. According to him, any Asian mobile startup faces problems of marketing and monetization. In particular, because of the updated policy of the regulator in China. Potato Play, in turn, is ready to solve these problems.

Let’s add that Play Ventures invested the entire amount in the publisher. This fund is engaged in venture investment in early-stage gaming projects. He was attracted to Potato Play by a strong team, data orientation, as well as working with a whole network of developer studios from Asia. After all, it is Asian products that dominate the global tops of the highest-grossing mobile games.
