The developer of the Russian Eagle Dynamics received a year in prison in the USA because of the flight simulator
The creator of the flight simulator Oleg Tishchenko received a year in prison in the United States. But this is de jure. Tishchenko was de facto deported back to Russia.
Oleg Tishchenko
The story of Tishchenko App2Top.ru I told you in May.
The developer was wanted for several years by American intelligence services for buying instructions for US Air Force fighters on eBay. From 2011 to 2015, he purchased manuals for the F-16, F-35, F-22 and A-10, and then tried to sell them to other buyers on eBay. Tishchenko himself explained his actions by “official needs”: allegedly, he was developing a flight simulator.
Earlier this year, he was extradited from Georgia to the United States and placed under arrest in a Utah prison. Yesterday, the court handed down a verdict in this case. Tishchenko faced up to 10 years in prison for illegal export and smuggling of classified data. Nevertheless, he received only a year, which was immediately written off to him: he had already served his term under arrest.
According to RIA Novosti, the developer was released from custody yesterday, June 19, and escorted to Salt Lake Airport for deportation to his homeland.
We add that Tishchenko is an employee of the Russian gaming company Eagle Dynamics, a developer of flight simulators (including for the needs of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation). Last month, Eagle Dynamics disavowed the case, saying that the arrested person acted in personal interests. Now the company is creating the F-16 module for the Digital Combat Simulator title, which Tishchenko, according to her, did not work on.
