Evening Digest: Rift Authors' Problems, Fatshark Purchase, Investments in Tommy Palm
Business news (and not only) of the gaming industry for October 23.
Dismissals
The Rift developer said goodbye to most of the employees
This autumn will be remembered in the industry for a long time. Following Carbine, Capcom Vancouver, Telltale Games, as well as cuts in Big Fish Games and Six Foot, it became known about the loss of a third of the line-up by Trion Worlds studio.
Known for the Rift MMO game and the discreetly accepted Defiance 2050, the company leaves only 25 employees. The remaining 175 are sent to free bread. This happens as a result of the sale of Trion Worlds to the German company Gamigo.
Gamigo is a provider of free—to-play online games, including for mobile and desktop browsers.

The authors of Warhammer: Vermintide have acquired A Sweet Studio
An unexpected move. The independent studio Fatshark, which became famous for the Warhammer: Vermintide dilogy (from 2 to 4 million copies sold only on Steam), bought a mobile development studio.
The amount of the transaction is not reported. But we are talking about a complete takeover. The staff of A Sweet Studio has already moved to Fatshark’s Stockholm office and started creating new content for Warhammer: Vermintide 2.
Apparently, they are very tired of doing three-in-a-row and children’s puzzles.

Resolution Games has attracted investments in the amount of $ 7.5 million
Some investors continue to believe in VR/AR. This is evidenced by another successful round of investment in Resolution Games, which specializes in the development of games for virtual reality.
A large share of investments in the last round fell on Mizmaa Ventures. GP Bullhound, Fly Forever and Unity co-founder David Helgason also acted as investors.
For Resolution Games, which is founded by Tommy Palm, this is not the first round. In total, the company raised $13.5 million. Its market valuation is $87.5 million.
Investors are sympathetic to the studio. She regularly releases high-quality VR/AR projects. However, they do not earn. At least not on mobile.
