Fox bought a game studio to create a game based on "Alien"
Fox Media Corporation has acquired Cold Iron Studios to work on the Alien franchise shooter for PC and consoles. The amount and terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
There is almost no information about the upcoming project. However, the developers reported that “the game will give fans of the series the opportunity to explore unexplored parts of the Alien universe.”
According to the head of Fox’s gaming division, FoxNext Games, Aaron Loeb, the film company intends to make video games as important a part of the business as movies and television.
In addition to the announced project on “Alien”, the only title of FoxNext Games is still the Marvel Strike Force free-play role-playing game for mobile platforms.
Cold Iron Studios was opened in 2015 by people from the company-developer of MMO games Cryptic Studios. The founders of Cold Iron worked on City of Heroes and Star Trek Online. In addition, the studio team employs employees who worked on Borderlands, Doom and BioShock Infinite.
