Amazon has bought a motion capture startup "on the fly"
Amazon Internet Corporation has acquired the company Body Labs. The latter has developed a technology that captures the figure of a person and his movements at home, on the basis of which it immediately generates a three-dimensional model.
This is reported by the publication TechCrunch.
Body Labs named their technology SOMA Shape API. The developers say that it is able to accurately determine the three-dimensional parameters of clients from one image and display them in the program.
Body Labs’ developments can be used in various business areas — from virtual clothing fittings to the generation of photorealistic game avatars.
Amazon representatives declined to comment on the acquisition of Body Labs. The startup itself officially confirmed the deal on its own page. The exact amount of the transaction is unknown. TechCrunch estimates it at $50-$70 million.
Body Labs was founded in 2013 in New York. During its existence, the company has raised more than $10 million in investments.
