Another Round of Layoffs Hits People Can Fly
More than 120 employees have been laid off by the Polish game company, People Can Fly. CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski made the announcement through a social media post, explaining that the change is part of a strategy to focus on self-publishing efforts.
Wojciechowski mentioned, "The need for this move arose due to sustained market pressures that were not anticipated." He added that the market is undergoing changes and they must align their operations accordingly. The company is shifting focus towards new contracted projects and dedicating resources to one major independent game.
"Our belief in our teams and their capability to create great games remains strong. However, we must align our future plans with our available finances," he stated.
This restructuring affects two in-progress developments: Project Victoria has been put on hold and Project Bitfrost is being reduced in scope.
Earlier this year, the company reduced its workforce by over 30 employees due to budget constraints and a narrowed focus.
