Torn Banner Studios, the developer behind Chivalry, announces staff layoffs

Torn Banner Studios, located in Toronto, recently announced a series of layoffs, though the precise number of affected staff remains undisclosed.

The announcement came from CEO and creative director Steve Piggott, who shared a statement on LinkedIn. Piggott explained that the layoffs are part of a strategic restructuring initiative within the company.

Employees who have been let go will receive severance packages and retain their work computers. The studio is also actively assisting these individuals in securing positions at other game development companies.

This development comes on the heels of the early access release of their latest title, No More Room In Hell 2. Piggott assured stakeholders that despite the layoffs, the studio is dedicated to releasing a complete 1.0 version by 2025.

Moreover, Piggott confirmed that Chivalry 2, a multiplayer action game that received its final update earlier this year, would remain unaffected, with its servers continuing regular operations.

"The dedication and passion of every team member have significantly contributed to making Torn Banner Studios what it is today," Piggott stated, expressing regret over the necessity to part ways with some team members and wishing them well in their future endeavors.
