Skybox Labs, a subsidiary of NetEase, has announced the layoff of 25 employees
Skybox Labs, a game development company based in Canada, has recently reduced its workforce by 25 employees.
Addressing the situation, the company acknowledged that it could not avoid the severe industry challenges many businesses are facing today.
In a LinkedIn post shared late last week, the studio communicated, "Today we informed our studio that we made a reduction to our staff at SkyBox."
The message emphasized that the impact affected 25 staff members and reflected on the broader difficulties challenging the sector.
The studio has pledged substantial support for those affected, including severance packages, extended health benefits, career transition services, and linkage to various supportive resources.
The statement concluded by expressing gratitude to those who contributed to SkyBox's projects, noting their significant role in creating notable games.
Early last year, NetEase finalized its acquisition of SkyBox Labs.
Since its establishment in 2011, the studio has collaborated on high-profile games like Halo Infinite, Minecraft, and Fallout 76.
