Media: Perfect World laid off hundreds of employees

The Chinese company Perfect World conducted large-scale layoffs. According to The Paper, it has laid off several hundred employees due to financial issues—by the end of 2023, its net profit dropped by 64.31%.

It is reported that the layoffs affected all divisions of Perfect World except the esports division.

Sources from The Paper also claim that the company has halted further development of the games Perfect New World and One Punch Man: World.

In response to an inquiry from The Paper, the Perfect World press service denied the reports about freezing Perfect New World and One Punch Man: World but confirmed that there have been "personnel changes" within the company. The scale of the layoffs was not disclosed.
