The studio behind Journey to Foundation experienced layoffs

The wave of layoffs has reached Archiact Interactive— the VR studio responsible for the games Journey to Foundation and FREEDIVER: Triton Down, and also participated in the development of DOOM 3: VR Edition.

In an official statement, Archiact Interactive announced that it had to conduct layoffs due to challenges in the gaming industry. They did not specify how many people lost their jobs, mentioning only that a wide array of employees were affected: developers, testers, artists, marketers, and others. The studio described the laid-off individuals as talented professionals and urged other companies to consider them. They are ready to share contact information with those interested in hiring their former employees.

The layoffs at Archiact Interactive occurred shortly after the release of the spy VR-action game Journey to Foundation on Steam, based on the Foundation series of novels by Isaac Asimov. The game appeared in Valve's store on June 7, receiving only 11 reviews, of which 63% were positive. The release of Journey to Foundation on other platforms, including the PlayStation Store, took place back in October 2023.
