Mass media: Activision Blizzard has cuts again. The company outsources all support
Another 100 employees will be laid off from Activision Blizzard. This time, those who were responsible for the maintenance of the company’s titles in the Asia-Pacific region fell under the knife.
This is reported by MCV/DEVELOP with reference to its sources. She writes that Activision Blizzard is cutting specialists in marketing, PR, publishing, user experience and localization.
The source, who preferred to remain anonymous, cited as the reason the desire of the management to completely transfer all personnel who are not directly engaged in game development to outsourcing.
“Activision management does not believe in working with the gaming community and fandom. They believe that their games sell themselves. They would rather spend a few million on a Beyonce tweet about a new game than hire a team of good people,” the source notes.
According to MCV/DEVELOP, this decision may be related to the desire of Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick to additionally hire 2,000 developers next year, as he reported at the last meeting with investors.
