The creators of Orcs Must Die! more than 30 employees were fired
Texas-based studio Robot Entertainment has cut more than 30 people. The company explained this decision with the task to focus on the development of one title and not to disperse forces on several projects.
According to Robot Entertainment CEO Patrick Hudson, the studio has grown significantly while working on the third part of a third-person action movie with elements of tower defense Orcs Must Die! Unchained.
For the last 18 months, two teams have been working at Robot Entertainment, each of which led its own project.“We are changing our strategy in favor of developing one title at a time. Unfortunately, this means that we need to reduce the staff so that the work goes more efficiently,” Hudson said.
He also appealed to colleagues from other companies, urging them to help with the employment of now former employees of Robot Entertainment. Among them are programmers, game designers, artists, producers, testers and marketers.
Hudson added that Robot Entertainment will continue to support Orcs Must Die! Unchained and mobile tactical strategy Hero Academia 2, which was released in January this year.
