Nintendo has completed its acquisition of Monolith Soft by purchasing the final shares it did not own previously, increasing its total ownership to 100% from an existing 96% stake.

Automaton reported that Monolith Soft's website reflects this update, showing that Nintendo now owns all 2,400 shares of the company.

There isn't clear information about the exact date of this acquisition. However, as per VGC, historical web records indicated that by October 1, 2024, Nintendo held 2,320 shares, and this number had increased to 2,400 shares by November 21.

The remaining 4% of shares were previously owned by Monolith Soft's co-founders, Hirohide Sugiura, Tetsuya Takahashi, and Yasuyuki Honne.

Back in 2007, Nintendo acquired 80% of Monolith Soft's shares from Bandai Namco.

Monolith Soft is recognized for creating the Xenoblade Chronicles series and has also contributed to several key Nintendo projects, including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, Splatoon, and Animal Crossing.
