EA Sports College Football 25 has achieved sales of 2.2 million copies at $100 each through early access

Sales for the premium edition of EA Sports College Football 25, which allowed players to dive in three days early, have surpassed two million units.

EA Sports revealed on Friday that 2.2 million players accessed the game ahead of its official release. As reported by IGN, this early access was exclusive to those who purchased the deluxe edition for $99.99, higher than the $69.99 standard version.

Beyond the early access sales, an additional 600,000 users played the game early via the EA Play subscription service.

According to Circana analyst Mat Piscatella, the game ranked third in daily active users for Xbox Series X|S and fourth for PS5 in the U.S.

Piscatella remarked, "It seems EA Sports College Football 25 might become the breakout hit this console generation has been waiting for."

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter echoed this sentiment, noting that the game's engagement surpasses previous college football titles before their hiatus.

Pachter mentioned that Wedbush Morgan is now doubling its sales projection for the game from 1.5 million to 3.2 million copies.

This release marks the first instance where college athletes are financially compensated for their in-game likenesses. EA offers over 11,000 players $600 annually for their appearances.

This change follows a 2019 California law that overturned the NCAA's prohibition on such payments to student-athletes.
