Digital video game sales Totaled $8.9 billion in August
Over the last month of summer, users spent $8.9 billion worldwide on video games (this is only sales in numbers). 62% of this amount was accounted for by mobile.
The assessment was shared by the analytical company SuperData. She also noted that the digital games market grew by 2% in annual terms.
According to analysts of the American company, the top of the highest-grossing games in August on three main platforms (PC, console and mobile) looked like this:
SuperData drew attention to a number of events last month. For example:
- Pokémon GO earned $176 million over the period. Analysts explain this by a series of events. Recall that Sensor Tower talked about the game’s revenue of “only” $ 110 million in connection with the update.
- The release of WoW Classic increased the game’s revenue from subscriptions by 223% compared to July. However, the revenue from the project was still lower than in August last year, when the Battle for Azeroth expansion was released.
