By the end of the year, Rovio will spend up to 40% of gaming revenue on UA

The authors of Angry Birds have adjusted the forecast for the current year. They expect less profit due to the rising costs of attracting users.

New forecast for 2019

  • Revenue is expected in the amount of 295-310 million (previously — 300-330 million);.
  • Profit — 5-8% (previously – 9-11%).

The drop in revenue is due to a reduction in brand licensing and a decrease in the forecast for revenue from old titles.

With profit, the story is different. Here, the decrease in the forecast is due to a deliberate increase in Rovio’s costs for UA marketing. In the second half of the year, the cost of attracting users will amount to 35-40% of the total revenue of the gaming division.

Rovio expects that in the long run this will allow it to increase profits, writes Pocket Gamer.

Next year, by the way, Rovio will release from one to three new games. But even earlier, before the end of this year, it plans to launch two or three new IP addresses at once. The novelties of 2020 may be their continuation.
