The Division 2 showed strong sales in Uplay, but weak on consoles

The level of console sales of The Division 2 disappointed Ubisoft. In its financial report, the company acknowledged that the game “did not meet ambitious expectations.”

As Daniel Ahmad, senior analyst at Niko Partners, points out, after the global release on March 15, The Division 2 is selling well on PC. Moreover, sales of the game in Uplay turned out to be 10 times higher than the result of the original The Division in the same store. This is despite the fact that The Division 2 was also released in the Epic Games Store.

However, on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the game sells much worse. Ubisoft did not name specific figures in any of the cases and did not disclose early forecasts either. The company’s chief financial officer Frederick Duguet explains the small sales “unexpectedly strong competition in the market,” writes GameSpot.

Nevertheless, Duguet paints a positive future for The Division 2: it, according to him, will “expand and gain momentum.” The studio continues to prepare additional content for the title.

Let’s add that according to the financial report, Ubisoft had a record financial year. The company’s annual net revenue was $2.07 billion, and net profit was $112.04 million, according to Gamesidustry.biz .
