Wargaming: the turnover of the Russian PC games market is $736 million
Russia’s PC games market is the sixth largest in the world. And more than half of its revenue comes from frituplay games.

Russia is one of the largest PC gaming markets
The Russian Federation is bypassed by only five countries in terms of annual spending by gamers: China, the USA, Japan, South Korea and Germany.
There is a noticeable difference in revenue between the first and sixth place in the top. If the Chinese PC games market generated $7.4 billion in 2018, the Russian market generated $736 million.
Wargaming does not specify the dynamics of the entire market, but the Russian dollar equivalent has grown by 9%, despite a serious drop in the ruble exchange rate (the dollar for Russians has risen by more than 17% over the year).
On a PC in Russia, the most money is in the fritupley
In 2018, of the $736 million, more than half of the revenue — $456 million — came from fritupley games. The dynamics of this segment is higher than the entire platform — 13%.
Two of the five highest-grossing PC products in Russia are developed and published by Wargaming. It’s about World of Tanks, which occupies the first place, and is in the fourth position in the World of Warships chart.
The whole top of the highest-grossing free-play PC games in Russia looks like this:

- Fortnite;
- Dota 2;
- World of Warships;
- Hearthstone.
The market for console free-play games in Russia is also growing
Wargaming also shared data on how much Russian gamers left in 2018 in console games distributed for free. The segment turnover was $59.6 million. This is 19% more than a year earlier.
The “tank” company is not ready to tell what the size of the entire console market in Russia is. However, she shared the chart of the most commercially successful free-to-play console games.
