June's Journey's mobile hidden helped Wooga turn a profit for the first time in two years
German mobile developer Wooga ended 2017 with a profit, and the company’s revenues have increased by 40% over the past 12 months. The main source of revenue was the mobile “hidden object” June’s Journey, released in April last year.
“I am very glad that Wooga managed to get back on its feet. Our revenues are steadily growing, and further development of casual games with a plot will help to maintain this positive trend in the future,” said Wooga CEO Jens Begemann (Jens Bergmann).
The previous two years turned out to be a difficult time for the studio — the authors of Jelly Splash and Pearl’s Peril went through two restructurings, during which they had to lay off about 70 people. The company was also forced to close its office in Tokyo and dissolve the Black Anvil Games division that worked on midcore titles.
