New tower defense helped Animoca Brands earn $3.4 million for the quarter

Hong Kong-based mobile developer and publisher Animoca Brands has reported earnings for the 1st quarter of 2018. The company earned $ 3.4 million, its revenues increased by 54.5% compared to last year. Financial success in Animoca was explained by the indicators of a new game in the genre of tower defense Crazy Defense Heroes.

Crazy Defense Heroes is the sequel to the 2015 Crazy Kings game.

Crazy Defense Heroes launched on January 8 in the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, and the world release of the game took place on March 27.

Thanks to the release of the new part, the Crazy Kings franchise generated $2.6 million in the quarter − 76% of Animoca Brands’ quarterly revenue.

Acquisitions and Cryptotechnologies

Last year Animoca Brands actively expanded and invested in blockchain.

The company bought 60% of the developer of gaming services on the Fuel Powered blockchain for $752 thousand, and also launched a beta version of the Cryptokitties blockchain game in China.

Earlier this year, Animoca acquired the Finnish studio Tribeflame for $433,000.
