Nintendo sales increased by 175% in six months thanks to Switch

Sales of Nintendo products from April to October of this year increased by 175% compared to the same period last year. The growth driver was the Nintendo Switch console.

The financial report reports that over the past 6 months, Nintendo has earned $ 3.3 billion, while a year earlier the company’s sales revenue amounted to $1.2 billion.

Profit for the same period increased from $337 million to $463.4 million.

Since the release of the Nintendo Switch in early March this year, Nintendo has sold 7.63 million units of consoles. In the next 6 months, the Japanese company plans to increase sales by almost half to 14 million consoles.

As the Eurogamer edition notes, in six months the Switch has overtaken the sales of its predecessor Nintendo Wii U for the entire existence.

Over the past six months, Nintendo has sold more than 22 million copies of Switch games.

By March next year, Nintendo intends to sell 50 million copies of titles for Switch.

Nintendo noted that thanks to Switch, digital sales of the company’s games increased by 55% to $200 million.

In addition, Nintendo’s revenue from mobile games in the last half of the year increased by 426% to $157 million thanks to the launch of Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes on iOS and Android.
