CD Projekt has launched a mobile game development studio
CD Projekt group, which includes the studio-developer of the Witcher series, announced the formation of a new company. She got the name Spokko. Her main profile will be the development of mobile game projects.
CD Projekt will have the main share of Spokko shares, the remaining shares will be distributed among the key employees of the new studio. It is reported that Spokko will have full access to the intellectual property available to CD Projekt.
“We’ve known the guys behind Spokko for several years now. They offered us an interesting idea concerning one of our brands, an idea in which we decided to invest,” Adam Kiciński, president of CD Projekt, said in connection with the announcement.
He also noted that the studio will be largely independent. It will be headed by Maciej Weiss and Rafal Staszewski, who are the authors of the Spokko brand and previously engaged in mobile development.
Spokko as a brand has existed since 2009. However, it was as a company that the studio did not function. She produced games in stora on behalf of Stashevsky.
The released projects were mostly casual physical puzzles in which the player had to carefully remove blocks from the towers so that the totem standing on its top did not touch the ground.
New games under this brand will not be casual, Weiss promised: “This time we plan to work on a much more complex and ambitious project.”
There is no information about future products on the official website of the studio yet, but vacancies are posted. Now the company needs a wide range of specialists: from testers to animators.
