A new book about the history of the Russian games is being prepared for publication. It was written by Andrey Podshibyakin

Creative director of Xsolla Andrey Podshibyakin has written a book about “iconic Russian (and not only) games”. It is called “Game Time!” and will appear on the shelves at the end of November.

This was announced by Andrey himself on Facebook.

As the song says, I mean, where the fuck should I really even start? long story short, at the end of November, Eksmo Publishing house will publish my new book, which tells about the history of development and the general cultural effect produced by iconic (about) Russian games — in chronological order from Parkan to WoT.

According to him, the book is based on “interviews with people without whom the industry would not exist — Krank, Orlovsky, Medox, Arkhipov, many others, including a dynamic pair of Miroshnikov-Baryshnikov.”

Andrey Podshibyakin, who has been working at Xsolla for the last four years, is an iconic figure for the Russian gaming and film press of the noughties.

He was one of the authors of the cult magazine Game.EXE, wrote about games for Afisha, MAXIM, GQ and many others. He was also the editor-in-chief of LiveJournal, Total Film, creative producer of Amedia. Prior to joining Xsolla, he headed his own digital agency Social Insight for five years, part of which was owned by Igor Matsanyuk, chairman of the board of directors of Game Insight.

“Game Time!” will be the second book about the domestic gaming industry. The first is “Our Game” by Mikhail Pimenov (journalist of the Russian version IGN.com ) and Pavel Tokarev (founder of localization company Inlingo) — released a year ago, in October 2018.
