Sensor Tower: Gamers spent over $100 million on mobile games from Riot Games
Last year, Riot Games began actively releasing full—fledged mobile games – previously it had only mini-applications on its account. The analytical company Sensor Tower found out that to date, mobile has brought developers $ 108.4 million *.
*Sensor Tower took into account only the expenses of gamers in the App Store and Google Play.
The main thing from the study:
- There are three mobile titles in the Riot Games portfolio: Teamfight Tactics, Legends of Runeterra and League of Legends: Wild Rift;
- League of Legends: Wild Rift is the latest and highest—grossing game of the company. Since its release in October 2020, it has collected $64.7 million in revenue and 46.3 million downloads;
- Teamfight Tactics, released last March, took second place at the box office. For almost a year and a half, gamers have spent $27.5 million in it. The number of downloads of the title today is 15 million;
- Legends of Runeterra, which was also released in March 2020, closes the top three. The game earned $16.2 million and reached 13 million downloads;
- analysts noted that the second quarter of 2021 was the most monetary for these games. In total, gamers spent $36.5 million. This is twice as much as in the first quarter of 2021 and 3.4 times more than in the second quarter of 2020;
- the main market for money for the mobile direction of Riot Games is the USA. For all time, Americans have generated $28 million (26%). The second place went to South Korea with 22%, and the third — to Brazil with 6.5%;
- Most of the revenue came from Google Play — $63.4 million. The App Store brought in $44 million;
- The leader in downloads was Brazil, whose residents installed the games 7.4 million times (10%). It is followed by South Korea (9.6%) and the USA (8.3%);
- Google Play also provided most of the downloads — 48.3 million. The App Store had 26 million downloads.
