Justice Mobile becomes new hit for NetEase, which reportedly spent almost $140 million on its development

The mobile version of NetEase’s popular MMO title Justice Online is generating several million dollars per day on iOS. And the game is currently only available in China.

NetEase spent nearly $140 million to develop Justice Mobile, which is now making huge money in China

Justice Mobile (逆水寒) reached $23.3 million in revenue in the first five days since its launch in China, according to app data platform Diandian (via Yicai Global). This only applies to the iOS version, since it is hard to estimate data from third-party Android stores.

The game, which had more than 40 million pre-registrations, is reportedly making around $3.9 million per day on the App Store.

It is worth noting that AppMagic estimates Justice Mobile’s revenue from in-game purchases at $40 million (in three weeks), with lifetime downloads of over 6 million. According to its data, the game generates between $1.7 million and $3.7 million per day, which is below Diandian’s estimates.

However, these are still impressive numbers that make Justice Mobile a potential new hit game in NetEase’s catalog. But the Chinese tech giant really needs to retain players in the long term to recoup its investment, given that the game’s production budget is estimated at over 1 billion yuan (around $139.5 million).

Justice Mobile’s iOS revenue between June 30 and July 19, according to AppMagic

Launched in China on June 30, Justice Mobile is an open world MMORPG in the genre of Wuxia, a Chinese fantasy about martial artists and swordsmen. One of its main features is the use of AI and deep learning technologies that enable unique reactions from NPCs and generate in-game dialogues.

The global version is expected to come out later this year.
